Chinatown @ Bangkok

Right after visiting Terminal 21, we head over to Hua lampong station through Metro in order to get to Chinatown (Thanon Yaowarat).

I thought that I could get there by walking, but figured that it would be a bit dangerous to walk at night. We plan to get there by taxi but too bad we din manage to grab one. So, we end up to get on a tuk tuk who plan to charge us for 100 baht for the trip, which is clearly overpriced. But we have to accept it since we were all famished.

On our way, the tuk tuk tried to convince us that Chinatown is not opened and want us to go to another night market instead!!! This is the 2nd time in Bangkok that someone tried to trick us that some popular tourist spot did not open. The driver keep telling us that chinatown is not opened on Sunday. And we were almost fooled as along the way, all the shops were closed, I really thought I did not do enough research and Chinatown is really closed.

 He stopped a distance away from Chinatown and claimed that we were already there. We almost asked him to turn around but luckily I managed to spot Chinatown from far and insist that we will walk there.

Anyway, the main purpose for me to be here, no other than having dinner at T&K Seafood restaurant. The place is so crowded. You need to get a number and wait for your table. We waited for like half an hour. Anyway, it's so easy to order food over there as the staff can speak mandarin and a little bit english too.

The food there is really delicious and more importantly, cheap!!! All of these with drinks and white rice only cost us 1000 baht!! Totally love it.

After that, we went for massage!!! oh my god, I miss my life there. We went to this place called Dr.Reflexology which is just opposite side of the restaurant.

We left chinatown around 10.30pm and grab a taxi to get back to the metro station. It only costs us 40baht, was cheated by the tuk tuk driver :(

Bangkok Beyond Car Rental Service

Just to blog a little bit on my experience of using Bangkok Beyond car rental service, as per promised.

Maeklong railway market, damnoen saduak floating market is actually quite far from the bangkok city. With the congested traffic, i really do not want to take my chance of taking public transport to get there. I figured it's going to take forever.

So, I've been researching on the available car rental service in Bangkok. Bangkok Beyond quoted 3950 baht for our day trip to railway market, floating market and also to the elephant camp. We think that the price is quite reasonable after doing some comparison. We chose Bangkok Beyond in the end as they are able to provide discounted fares for our boat ride in floating market as well as elephant ride. 

For boat ride, it's 800 baht per boat (6-person boat), and 500 baht per person for the elephant ride. Just some extra information, while i researching, quotation that I get for boat ride, it goes from as low as 400 baht per boat up to 650 baht per person!!! So, a tip, just keep asking around for quotation until you found the best option.

Anyway, our driver provided a really good service. He showed up on time, being really patient with us who spend a lot of time shopping. He even bought water and some little snacks for us along the way.

The whole trip starts from 6.30am until 3pm in the afternoon.. I would rate 5 out of 5 for the service provided.

Terminal 21, Shopping All Around the World

Terminal 21, a shopping complex located in Sukhumvit, Bangkok. I would say it is one of the must visit shopping mall in Bangkok. However, instead of shopping, I think most of the people will take most of the time taking photos instead. Everywhere in this shopping mall is a photo spot.

Each floor in Terminal 21 represents a city, from Carribean, Rome, Paris, Tokyo, London, Istanbul, San Francisco and Hollywood.

Departing to Istanbul!!! Love the departure and arrival gate at the beginning and the very end of the escalator.

What I loved about this place, not just the shopping area, even the toilet was designed in a way to match the theme. Even the staffs, may it be security guards or cleaners, they have a different uniforms in different levels.

Shopping Heaven - Chatuchak Weekend Market

It's the third day of our trip. And we are heading to the famous Chatuchak Weekend Market!!! As per the name indicated, it's a weekend market, so it's only opened on Saturday and Sunday. From the info I read from some websites, it was opened on Friday as well, just that not that many stalls/stores are opened.

So, we departed from our hotel, take the BTS skytrain to Mo Chit station. To get to Chatuchak market, you can get off at skytrain Mo Chit station or Kamphaeng Phaet station exit 1 & 2 through MRT.

The Chatuchak market is huge, really huge as I was told. Therefore, after we reach Mo Chit station, we took a short walk to Chatuchak Park MRT station in order to get to Kamphaeng Phaet station instead. There's an tourist information centre in Kamphaeng Phaet station in which you can get a copy of Chatuchak map, which come in handful later when we start to shop in the market.

The market is divided into sections and you may find out what does each section selling from the map. If you get down from Kamphaeng Phaet station, you will found yourselves at section 1.

We were there since 10am, I guess what time left? 4pm!!! We stayed there for 6 hours and only managed to walk from section 1 to section 8. That's only about a quarter of the whole chatuchak market.
